AI Collapses on a Psychology Test And Stalls Human AI

A 2017 breakthrough idea stating that attention is all one needs for solving complex problems has transformed AI up to today.

But now, a research team is  asking how closely does AI self-attention resemble human attention? The findings suggest today’s AI attention systems are fundamentally limited.

The study joins a growing effort borrowing psychological tests for research in machine cognition, especially when AI is challenged with complex tasks.

Future AI systems could benefit from methods that continuously track progress toward a goal and detect when attention has drifted.
